How to play Connections
Connections is one of the most popular (and challenging) daily puzzle games published by the New York Times (owners of Wordle). The aim of Connections is to group the 16 words of the day into four groups, where each group of four words has a common theme.
For instance, the words “Hook”, “Nana”, “Peter”, and “Wendy” are all Peter Pan characters. Or to take another example, “Action”, “Ballpark”, “Go”, and “Stick” are all words which commonly come just before the word “Figure”.
Your job is to figure out what these themes are that connect the various words together – but be wary, because a lot of the time there are deceptive red herring connections placed purely to throw you off! To win the game, you have to find all four Connections without making 4 mistakes. On your fourth mistake, the game is over and the answer is revealed automatically.
Each of the four groups in each day’s Connections puzzle is also assigned a different colour, which represents how easy or difficult the Connection is to find. These colours are: Yellow (Easiest), Green (Easy), Blue (Medium), and Purple (Hardest).

What is today’s Connections answer?
Here is the answer to today’s Connections puzzle on Thursday, 3rd April:
- Yellow: Printed Notification (Announcement, Bulletin, Notice, Poster)
- Green: Seen At A Grocery Checkout Counter (Conveyor Belt, Register, Scale, Scanner)
- Blue: Things With Tabs (Browser, Folder, Keyboard, Soda Can)
- Purple: Palm ___ (Beach, Reader, Sunday, Tree)
The Yellow and Green groups gave me no issues today, though I should note that these days, it seems increasingly more common to go to a grocery store that doesn’t have a conveyor belt rather than one that does!
I had some more trouble with the Blue and Purple groups. The “Palm” connection actually came to me faster than expected, since I used to have a Palm Pilot back in the day. Meanwhile, “Things With Tabs” is a very clever collection of words, and while “Browser” and “Folder” are self-explanatory enough, it took me a long while to realise that yes, my keyboard has a TAB key as well! Once I got that, I remembered the silly game my brother and I used to play growing up when we would take turns flicking a soda tab back and forth. The winner was the one who managed to flick it hard enough for the tab to go flying into space. Good times.
